Bonjour Amour 💕
I hope everyone have been well, I know we have been through some tough times for the past years but look on the bright side, everything is opening up again. This may be some serious late post but better late than never.
It's lovely to be back, I do miss writing. As you may have notice, I have deleted a lot of posts, as I am trying to give you some fresh contents. So many people requesting for the website to be active again and updating you with all my travel and just life in general. SO HERE WE ARE.. ☺
As some of you may already know, I grew up travelling around the world, I have always enjoyed family trips so my 2023 goal was to go as many trips as possible with my family in 2023 and 2024. I hate travelling alone, so you'll never find me travelling by myself.
This is your sign to visit ROVANIEMI! This may help you with your 2023/2024 winter trips. Thank Me Later!
I have always wanted to visit Lapland, I mean why not right?! Northern Light hunting is fun. So in January 2023 I've decided to drag my family (My Parents, Sister and one of my Best Friend) to Lapland for a week 😅 Its only right to go to the capital of Lapland which is Rovaniemi, Finland. Turns out it is the coldest month in winter, it can go as low as -40C 😶 and yes we had to do a lot of last minute shopping for extreme cold clothing and accessories for the whole family, and yes sadly I was responsible for this too since I was the one who chose the destination lol.
Perfect trip not only for family but also group of friends or couple. They have so many activities during winter is unreal, I tried to do as many as I can. When I travel I like to be busy and dont really like being lazy and doing absolutely nothing, WHAT IS THE POINT??? you can do that at home! I'd have a day or two to chill but most days, always have something to do; get to know the area/ people/culture/traditions/trying the local food.. etc.
During this family trip, I partnered up with some amazing hotels, restaurants, activities:

I will write and post separately for some of the above and let you know my experience and review about them, if not, this post will be extremely long.
There are some promo code that you may use to get discount on your stay 😉 I will post it on the post about the hotels, so keep an eye on it.
Overall, my time in Rovaniemi are so unbelievably amazing, its Christmas all year long there lol, I met some amazing people throughout my trip (I Even Met Santa 😅), people are so friendly and helpful, location wise, not far from the airport as well and hotels are not far from each other which is great. There are taxi and hotel can order it for you (Sadly, no uber).
In regards to flights the only direct flights they had were with Easy Jet from London Gatwick at 6 AM which is amazing we want to arrive as early as possible and do not want to waste time with stopover. This is my 2nd time with Easy Jet, just because I had no choice lol, 1st time for the family to fly with Easy Jet. Price not so bad around GBP 300 return (Per Person).
The following direct flight connections to Rovaniemi from UK for 2023/2024:
•
London (Gatwick) – Rovaniemi with EasyJet – Operated between 17th November 2023 and 20th March 2024 on Wednesdays and Sundays. 17th November – 5th January also on Fridays.
• London (Stansted) – Rovaniemi with Ryanair – Operated between 29th October 2023 and 29th March 2024 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
•
Manchester – Rovaniemi with EasyJet – Operated between 18th November 2023 and 6th January 2024 on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Aurora seasons are from September - March. Though you may not catch a glimpse of it where you are (it may be too cloudy), you can go on aurora hunting activity, let the expert show you and take you to the Aurora, it can take hours of driving though (As you may need to go further up north) so be prepare and wrap up warm (You will not be disappointed). I was so looking forward to it but was unable to see it this time around.. its ok, I am going back to hunt for it 😙 You can also check on the app instead of going in and out of your room lol, I have the NorthernLightsAlert app which tells you the aurora forecast, cameras and destinations, and alert you when they come out, comes very handy when you're there.
Weather was.. very cold haha.. like I said in January it can go as low as -40C, Luckily it didn't go as low when I was there, the coldest were -33C (close enough) I was fine, my sister not so much lol though she did got a bit ill on the plane before departing, so that's why she got even more ill being in extreme cold weather. But we made it, we all had a great time, regardless.
Clothing and Accessories were the most important bit of the travel. I already have some 100% Merino Wool Ski base layers as my family go on a ski trip almost every year. Wear Layers.. lots of layers.. min 3 layers, you do not want to freeze and get frostbites. It is very important to cover yourself (Head to Toe) with 100% Merino Wool Base Layers, Sweaters + Accessories, this will help to keep you warm. (Yes, even Pyjamas) I did not pack light of course lol I brought 3 suitcases just for myself. 😜
Below are a few websites where I usually get my winter outfits:
